If you thought the choice of coffee drinks in Iceland was daunting, then prepare yourself for the impending flood of Christmas beers.

The State Alcohol and Tobacco Company of Iceland (ÁTVR) has announced that Christmas beer sales will kick off on November 15. This year, choosy beer enthusiasts will have their work cut out for them, as 43 different types of Christmas beer will be for sale.

Naturally, not all of these beers are produced in Iceland. Many imports comprise this list, in addition to some “Christmas liquors” and gift boxes of a few types of Christmas beer.

However, savvy shoppers should bear in mind that not all of these brands will be available in every ÁTVR shop. In addition, many of the imports will be arriving in very limited quantities. It is therefore advisable to check where in Iceland your nearest alcohol store is, and then call ahead to make sure they have the Christmas beer you want.
