The Icelandic Met Office predicts that Iceland will begin feeling the effects of the incoming hurricane as early as Wednesday.

RÚV reports that south Iceland can expect high winds and torrential rains, and very strong gusts of winds could each as far as the north coast of Snæfellsnes. It is predicted that the storm will last at least 24 hours, with wind speeds not beginning to let up until Thursday afternoon.

Hurricane Nicole recently finished pummeling Bermuda, and is now heading north and east up the Atlantic. It is listed as a Category 3 hurricane for now, but it is predicted that by the time it reaches Iceland, it will be a tropical storm.

That being said, a tropical storm can brings winds from 120 to 177 KPH. How powerful those winds will be by the time Nicole touches down in Iceland remains to be seen, but those thinking of traveling on Wednesday might do well to stay indoors instead.
