The week-long event, featuring free lectures on a variety of subjects, officially begins today. The general public are welcome to attend.

The Radical Summer School is now in its 5th year, and the curriculum continues to venture into such pertinent subject matter as feminism, refugees and asylum seekers, climate change and much more.

The general public are encouraged to not just attend, but to participate in asking lecturers questions and taking part in the discussion. Light food and refreshments will also be made available.

Amongst the guest lecturers is physician and activist Mads Gilbert, who will share his experiences in Gaza, where he has done humanitarian work for many years.

As always, there are lectures in both Icelandic and English. The full schedule of courses can be read here.

(Full disclosure: The reporter is one of the lecturers at the event.)
