Bill Gates, the richest person alive, may be investing in a new five star hotel next to Harpa, Reykjavík’s harbourside concert hall.

Kjarninn reports that the owner of Microsoft might invest in a new luxury hotel that they are planning to build next to Harpa. The company that stands behind the construction of the hotel, Carpenters & Company, announced this during a meeting just about a week ago.

However, Haraldur Flosi Tryggvason, a lawyer at Carpenters & Company in Iceland, did not want to confirm anything when Morgunblaðið asked him about it.

Marriott Edition, a company that has luxury hotels all over the world, will run this new hotel at an estimated cost of about 16 billion ISK, and will hold 250 rooms. Speculations about the investment and management of this hotel have been in the air since at least 2013.
