Grapevine offices received the above photo, along with a brief statement, from parties unknown.

The above photo was taken at the Ministry of Finance, where the entrance was spray painted last Sunday with the words “closed due to abuse of power”. The doors were also glued shut.

“The abuse of power of those who work there make them unfit to preside over the assets and revenue of the public,” the anonymous statement accompanying the photo reads.

Minister of Finance Bjarni Benediktsson has been implicated in the Panama Papers leak, and has gone on the defensive in trying to hold the ruling coalition together in the wake of the scandal.

For his part, Bjarni told reporters in London that he will not resign from his post.

Icelanders seldom take criticism of an institution right to the building itself, but it does happen, as it did last December at the Directorate of Immigration.
