Both perpetrators of last December’s bank robbery will remain in custody, and both have reportedly confessed to the crime.

Vísir reports that the two suspects will remain in police custody until March 7 at the earliest. Initially, one of them had confessed to the robbery after seeing security camera footage stills of himself on the news. It is now being reported that both have confessed.

While it is still not known exactly how much money the two managed to get from the bank, police have described the quantity as “insignificant”. The money was found hidden in Öskuhlíð, the wooded area around Perlan.

As reported, the two were seen fleeing the scene of the crime on December 30, and their vehicle was spotted near Perlan. Helicopters were deployed to search for the two by air, but it was not until one of the suspects turned themselves in that a break in the case was made.
