Farmer Kristinn Guðnason was caught by surprise yesterday when he realised that one of his sheep was labour much earlier than expected, reports RÚV.

The ewe later gave birth to a strapping young ram lamb who is happy and healthy and scuttling about in the manner of baby farm animals.

The pregnancy and birth came as a surprise to Kristinn because sheep reproduction is tightly monitored in Iceland and most pregnant sheep will not be delivering for some time, meaning that this is most likely the first lamb born this year.

So how did this happen? The farmer suspects that the mood simply struck for the mom and pop sheep while they were out roaming the Icelandic countryside this summer, and an afternoon of free love and harmony resulted in sweet little ram lamb.

Congrats ewe crazy kids.

The sheep and lamb pictured above are not the sheep and lamb from this story but just as cute. Swearsies.
