Composer Jóhann Jóhannsson has been nominated for an Oscar for his frankly stellar original score for Sicaro, reports RÚV. This is the second year in a row he is nominated for the Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (original score) award—last year he was nominated for his work on The Theory of Everything.

Also in the running for best original score are Thomas Newman, Carter Burwell, Ennio Morricone and John Williams.

Last year he won a Golden Globe award for The Theory of Everything.
