Baltimore dreampop merchants Beach House were in the news yesterday after they surprised the world with the announcement of a new album, ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’, coming just two months after their lauded 2015 LP ‘Depression Cherry’.

Speaking on Twitter, the band thanked record labels Sub Pop, Bella Union and Mistletone, adding: “We are very excited, it’s an album being released the way we want. It’s not a companion to depression cherry or a surprise or b-sides.”

They also released the LP’s cover via Instagram, announcing that it will be released on vinyl, as well as digitally, next week. Considering that it often takes around twelve weeks to press vinyl—after an album has been mixed and mastered—‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’ must have been in the works for quite some time.

Speaking to Reykjavík Grapevine exclusively ahead of their Airwaves ’15 show, the band said of their previous experience of Iceland: “The last and only time we have been to Iceland was when we played Iceland Airwaves in 2011. Our description may sound very touristy, but we had an amazing time. We rented a car and explored the landscape that felt strange and beautiful and otherworldly. A destination wasn’t really necessary.  We met a lot of small, pretty horses with horizontal pupils. We went to the blue lagoon. We drank too much coffee and too much beer and drifted between warm rooms in Reykjavik. We are very excited to return.”
