An Icelandic man got fed up with how dirty Seljavallalaug has become and cleaned it, whilst taping himself.

The pool has been receiving rather negative reviews on Tripadvisor for its filthiness. In fact, when Grapevine reviewed it this winter the changing rooms had “used nappies and sanitary napkins on the floor.”

“I did a bit of cleaning inside the changing rooms, as it was a different kind of dirty,” says the cleaner, Ásgeir Örn Valgarðsson, in his video. “I didn’t expect to see that the very people that have come all this way to enjoy the purity of this pool in the middle of Iceland’s beautiful nature are the ones who are making it dirty. Lets pick up our shit, and make sure this place can be visited by generations to come.”

Ásgeir has just launched a Youtube channel, Do More Ásgeir, and in a letter to the Grapevine he said, “I am on a mission of exploring and doing as much as I can in Iceland.”

Was it a selfless act to make Icelandic nature better for visitors or was it for the sake of more YouTube followers? Watch the video and judge for yourselves:
