Six tonnes of coloured powder is making its way to Iceland as preperations begin for the nation’s first ever Colour Run, reports Vísir.

The 5 kilometre run, which will be held on June 6, is considered untraditional because the aim is not to get to the finish line as fast as possible (it remains untimed) but rather to enjoy the run as you go along.

During the run participants are doused with a different coloured powder at each kilometre. Presale tickets sold out in 4 days back in November though general ticket sales are ongoing on midi.is.

“It’s pretty obvious that there’s a great deal of interest in this run,” said Davíð Lúther Sigurðarson, one of the run’s organisers, adding that he expects tickets to sell out. “We’re trying to get a feeling for how many want to participate now so that we order enough colour powder from India, we expect a delivery of six tonnes will arrive any day now.”
