A petition has been created to stop notorious “pick up artist” Julien Blanc from holding seminars in Iceland.

Julien Blanc is a self-proclaimed “dating coach” who holds classes advocating abuse and violation of consent in order to receive female attention. Blanc has also posted a photo of himself on social media choking a woman, under the hashtag “#ChokingGirlsAcrossTheWorld”. He plans to hold seminars in Iceland this June.

In a video (which has since been made private) that amassed over 50,000 views, Blanc gave “advice” on Japanese women while showing a recording of himself holding a female’s face to his groin: “At least in Tokyo, if you’re a white male, you can do what you want. I’m just romping through the streets, just grabbing girls’ heads, just like, head, pfft on the dick. Head, on the dick, yelling, ‘pikachu,’ with a pikachu shirt.”

Blanc has since deleted a tweet where he posted a domestic violence intervention resource chart, highlighting methods of power and control used in abusive relationships and captioned it, “May as well be a checklist… #HowToMakeHerStay”

The Blanc backlash began when online activist Jennifer Li started the #takedownjulianblanc campaign and change.org petition against venues hosting Blanc.

When Julien Blanc attempted to come to Australia to hold his workshops, a campaign to cancel his visa was quickly launched. Along with activists such as Melinda Tankard Reist  and groups such as Destroy The Joint campaigning against Blanc, venues also began to refuse to host Blanc. A protest was held in Melbourne, Australia in front of a boat where Blanc’s assistant attempted to hold a seminar. The event was soon cancelled and seminar attendees were escorted off the boat by police.

A petition for Australian Immigration Officer Scott Morrison to cancel Blanc’s visa was signed by over 10,000 people. Check out this “Letter to Scott Morrison” by Tankard Reist, which outlines in painstaking detail why Blanc should be kicked out of Australia.

On November 13, Blanc’s Australian visa (which he had obtained by saying he was entering the country to deliver “political seminars”) was revoked. Scott Morrison said “This guy wasn’t putting forward political ideas, he was putting forward abuse that was derogatory to women and that’s just something, those are values abhorred in this country.”

Amidst reports Blanc intends to hold his workshops in Iceland in June 2015, a petition has been started to ban Blanc from entering the country. Over seven thousand people have already signed the petition.

Protestors in the United Kingdom and Canada have also launched campaigns to ban Blanc from entering these countries.

Update:  In Brazil, a public petition against Blanc gained traction, and Brazil’s foreign ministry said they will deny him a visa if he tries to enter the country.
