A formal request to reopen the “Guðmundar- og Geirfinnsmál” (The Guðmundur and Geirfinnur Case) is expected to be filed after the weekend, reports DV.

The request will be delivered by Erla Bolladóttir, one of the six convicted in  connection with the case which has been considered a dark stain on Iceland’s police force for decades.

Last year, a 477-page report of the investigation into the original police inquiry was delivered to the state prosecutor’s office but so far no action has been taken.

The request to reopen the case has gathered over a 1000 signatures.
