Nine protestors charged with disobeying police orders are now awaiting a final decision on their Supreme Court appeal.

MBL reports that the nine protestors are expecting a final decision soon. They originally filed a motion to have the charges against them dismissed, but this was denied by the Reykjanes District Court.

The protestors also filed last February to have the prosecutor against them, Karl Ingi Vilbergsson, removed from the case, on the grounds that he is also a witness against them.

As reported, the nine, who are members of the group Lava Friends, have been charged with refusing to obey a police order. This order was to disperse their blockade of road construction through the Gálgahraun lava field, which was officially protected in 2009, last October.
