More Men Working In Preschools

The number of men working at preschools has increased by 40% since 2010, Vísir reports.
According to the new figures gathered by Statistics Iceland, there are 103 more men working at preschools in the country since 2010. During the same period, the number of women increased by 77, or 1.5%.

Moreover, the number of qualified preschool teachers has also risen significantly, from 926 in 1998 when Statistics Iceland began publishing preschool figures to 1878 today. This amounts to a 103% increase in qualified teachers. 36.3% of currently employed preschool staff have now completed an education in early childhood pedagogy compared with 29.1% in 1998.
