From Iceland — Tourist Falls In Glacier Crevasse

Tourist Falls In Glacier Crevasse

Published April 5, 2013

A man who was exploring Sólheimajökull as part of an organised tour group this afternoon fell into a crevasse, prompting the Icelandic Association of Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) to be called in to assist.
RÚV reports that ICE-SAR was called around 3 this afternoon and quickly made their way to the scene in a coast guard helicopter. The man is believed to have fallen unconscious in the crevasse, but came to shortly thereafter and was being helped back down the mountain.
