From Iceland — Of Monsters And Men Say They Can’t Come Home To Iceland

Of Monsters And Men Say They Can’t Come Home To Iceland

Published February 22, 2013

Of Monsters and Men have been circling the globe in recent months, riding on the massive success of their debut album ‘My Head is an Animal.’ They’ve been  hopping from Australia, to Japan, and to Europe before heading State-side, and will do the festival circuit this summer. They relish the opportunity to play such a packed schedule abroad because, the bands front-woman Nanna Hilmarsdóttir tells The Scottish Sun, they don’t have any opportunity to play back home in Iceland.
“Our gigs are nothing like playing in Iceland,” she said. “For a start, we hardly have any venues left. It’s a sad thing and they keep shutting them down… It’s so expensive to be traveling out of Iceland and, to be honest, back home being in a band is considered a hobby – people don’t expect to pay you for it.”
OMAM played last night in Glasgow for a sold-out O2 Academy.
