Published January 11, 2013

Icelandic author Andri Snær Magnason has been nominated for the Philip K. Dick Award for his novel LoveStar.
Andri Snær, acclaimed author of the book Dreamland: A Self-Help Manual For A Frightened Nation, published LoveStar last November. The book has now been nominated for the Philip K. Dick Award, the Norwescon website announced, alongside six other authors.
The Philip K. Dick Award is granted “for distinguished science fiction published in paperback original form in the United States.” LoveStar, although written in Icelandic, was translated into English by Victoria Cribb and published by Seven Stories Press in November 2012.
LoveStar, the Cite of Literature website explains, “tells of the lovers Indridi and Sigrid, who have their perfect worlds threatened when they are “calculated apart” and forced to go to extreme lengths to prove their love. Their journey ultimately puts them on a collision course with the founder of the LoveStar Corporation, who is on his own mission to find what might become the last idea in the world.”
