Published November 29, 2012

An Icelandic singer is starting to rack up quite the hit count thanks to a pop single which is supposedly an “Icelandic tribute to Gangnam Style”.
Ása rand&band has been gaining quite a lot of attention for her song “Saetir Kossar/Big Kisses”. Appearing on YouTube, it has reached nearly 300,000 views in only nine months.
In a statement to the press, the “Ása team” say in part, “What is the most amazing thing is that most of the clicks come from Germany – where Ása is living at the moment and people are really freaking out about this song and dancing the dance -, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the UK.”
Ása herself says of her career, “I love it so much to bring the beautiful Icelandic language and lifestyle to all the world!”
Her team also say that she plans on releasing her next single, “Skál”, very soon. There are also plans in the works for an album, a television show in Germany and a movie, all in the year to come.
