Arrested Smuggling Cocaine In Her Wig

Published August 21, 2012

A woman was arrested at Keflavík International Airport attempting to smuggle 700 grammes of cocaine that had been sewn into a wig she was wearing.
Vísir reports that the suspect in question arrived in Iceland from Alicante, Spain on August 2. Customs officials became suspicious, due to her behaviour and the state of her hair, and pulled her aside to be searched.
In the course of their search, they found that she had 700 grammes of cocaine sewn into the scalp of the wig. She was immediately arrested and is still in police custody.
The suspect had visited Iceland once before, and claims to not know who ultimately organised the smuggling operation. If convicted, she could face up to four years in prison.
