From Iceland — Icelander Wins Naked Race

Icelander Wins Naked Race

Published July 9, 2012

For the first time in history, an Icelander has won the Naked Race at the Roskilde Music Festival in Denmark.
The Naked Race, which has been held every year at the festival since 1998, stipulates that runners may wear shoes, but nothing else. The contestant who finishes first wins free tickets to next year’s Roskilde.
In an interview with Ibyen (lead photo NSFW), Pétur Geir Grétarsson, a 22-year-old Icelander, expressed his joy of winning the race.
“This is the best day of my life,” he said. “This is unbelievable. I am the first Icelander to win this race. I hope that gets reported.”
With Pétur’s victory, he breaks the three-year winning streak of Hans Christian Andersen.
