From Iceland — Arnljótur’s Picks For Friday

Arnljótur’s Picks For Friday

Published October 15, 2010

Arnljótur is a member of Ojba Rasta, Sin Fang and Berndsen. He also
plays solo as Arnljótur, and you can often see him on stage with a bunch
of other bands. He is highly involved with the local music scene, and
he knows it well. His opinions on it are thus well worth listening to,
so take heed and read ARNLJÓTUR’S PICKS FOR FRIDAY!
1. Ojba Rasta @ Iðnó, 02:00
Formed in 2009 this ten piece band is heavily influenced by world music (eastern european, folklore) and film music.
2. Nolo @ Venue, 21:40
No fancy, just two guys from Reykjavík and their love and passion for music.
3. Everything on Amsterdam
4. DLX ATX @ Faktorý 01:00
One of Iceland’s favourite purveyors of evil are definitely DLX ATX, led
by the lovely Irish expat Greg Barrett. There are dark sinister bands
out there, bands that play dark and sinister music.
5. Berndsen @ Nasa 20:50
An ’80s throwback. That in a nutshell, is what Berndsen sounds like. The
heavy use of synths, and clean, elaborate well timed guitar solos,
mixed with pumping dance beats.
