With Iceland Airwaves 2015 already looking all sorts of amazing, with artists like Ariel Pink, Björk, GusGus, Pink Street Boys, M-Band and Sóley set to perform, we are happy to announce that The Reykjavík Grapevine will once again serve as your main source of Iceland Airwaves information+inspiration, news, interviews, sneak-previews, secret gigs and insider tips (and more!).

Yes, we are as always proud and excited to serve as our favourite festival’s official media partner. But what does it all mean? Well, it means that we will be able to present you with all the freshest Airwaves-related scoops as they happen, that we’ll be the first to tell you about every pertinent announcement and development, and that we’ll regularly post exclusive Airwaves interviews and content that you’ll find nowhere else.

It also means that we’ll be massively on it throughout the festival’s duration, bombarding you with a fresh stream of news, reviews, interviews and photos 24/7.

“Since our very first issue, we have been massive fans and supporters of Iceland Airwaves,” Grapevine’s publisher Hilmar Steinn Grétarsson said of the partnership, adding: “It’s always an honour to be involved in the festival, because its proprietors share our goal of actively supporting and promoting the great musicians of Reykjavík and Iceland, and because it is always a great party. Throughout our decade of covering Iceland Airwaves, we’ve seen some truly magical things happen.”

Preparations for the festival are going well, according to festival director Grímur Atlason, who promises several exciting additions to be announced in the coming weeks. According to Grímur, there are no substantial changes planned to the festival’s format, although it continues to constantly evolve. “We always have a few aces up our sleeves, of course,” said Grímur, “but on the whole attendees can expect the good old Airwaves experience – with a twist.”

Discussing the partnership with Reykjavík Grapevine, Grímur said: “We have enjoyed a long and fruitful collaboration with Reykjavík Grapevine over the years. and I am happy that we are moving forward in 2015. Since a majority of our attendees come from abroad, it is especially important to have people on the inside – active participants in the scene and in the culture – relaying what’s going on, providing necessary context and insight.”

Iceland Airwaves 2015 kicks off on Wednesday November 4 and will go strong through that Sunday.
