Ongoing Now: ‘Blind Spot‘ by Gregg Louis

‘Blind Spot’ at Hverfisgallerí offers a unique take on self-portraiture. Rathern than emphasising the artist’s positive qualities, this exhibit presents purposefully distorted images of Gregg Louis. With drawings made blindly (i.e. from memory) and further “disfigured”, made quickly, in rapid succession, this exhibit is a comment on the role of memory in self-perception and identity construction. The walls of the gallery itself become canvas as Louis draws directly on them, and the viewer is invited to enjoy the art in new and funny ways, and to reflect on how they view themselves.

This exhibition runs until January 9 at Hverfisgallerí. Open from 13:00 – 17:00 Tuesday to Friday and 14:00 – 17:00 on Saturdays. Closed on Mondays and Sundays. Admission is free! For more information see our listings page.
