Sequences VII Presents Loftsson, The Venue, More Artists

Loftsson (pictured) is one of Sequences VII’s main venues, and will host some great exhibitions in the coming days. Did you know the artist Kolbeinn Hugi Höskuldsson, who will be exhibiting at Loftsson, designed and painted the exterior of the building, in collaboration with Hildigunnur Birgisdóttir? Now you do!

Check it out, here’s a selection of the artists exhibiting at Loftsson, in JL-húsið, Hringbraut 121, during Sequences VII:

Beatrice Pediconi (b. 1972) is drawn to the gravity-defying world of water, recording the interaction of light, water and ink. She started painting on water in 2003 and her photographic work is analogue, without digital manipulation. Pediconis technique is a mixture of chance and control resulting in beautiful and mysterious landscapes.

Untitled, 2015:

In his work, artist Kolbeinn Hugi Höskuldsson (b.1979) aims for the heart, not for the head, taking heavy influence from dreams and a firm belief in sensory relativity. His work has been exhibited widely around the Western world, and is preserved in the collection vault of the National Gallery of Iceland. Last year, Kolbeinn and Hekla Dögg Jónsdóttir collaborated on the installation Return to Innocence.

Return to Innocence, 2014:

Hekla Dögg Jónsdóttir (b. 1969) makes multimedia installations, such as sound-reactive cold cathode light sculptures of fireworks or waterfalls in dialogue with audio and video, which have been exhibited internationally to wide acclaim. Magic is significant in Hekla’s work as she seeks to capture the “perfect moments” when things happen unexpectedly. She is a founder of Kling & Bang Gallery, and has curated several exhibitions as well as lectured at the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

Loftsson at  Sequences VII will open on Saturday at 17.00!
