Published October 4, 2012

Compared to other universities around the world, the University of Iceland has seen a marked improvement in global ranking, according to a new study.
The study, published by the British magazine Times Higher Education, placed the California Institute of Technology, also known as Caltech, in the first position. In fact, American universities occupied seven places out of the top ten.
Comparatively, the University of Iceland was ranked in the 251-275th place range, placing it on the same level as the University of Essex in the UK, the University of Milan, Italy and the University of Oregon.
Additionally, this ranking is a bump up for the University of Iceland. The year previous, the school was ranked in the 276-300th place range.
The University of Iceland is an international school, attracting more foreign students every year. In recent years, it has been in competition with the University of Reykjavík, while Iceland as a whole has seven universities.
