Traffic Accident Leads To Group Photo Taken For Police Facebook

Published November 2, 2012

A minor collision prompted an unusual request from those involved in the accident: to have their photo taken for the Facebook page of the capital area police.
Iceland’s capital area police are active on Facebook, posting everything from crime stats to lost items to police-related humour. Their use of all kinds of social media is well documented, to the point where they have apparently become sought after by the general citizenry to be featured in one of their many posts.
Such was the case yesterday when a minor fender-bender occurred in the east Reykjavík neighbourhood of Grafarvogur. While there were no serious injuries reported, all parties involved asked the police to take a group photo, with the request that it be posted on the police’s Facebook page.
As can be seen, the police were happy to oblige.
The police added in their Facebook post that afterwards, all those involved were warned to drive more carefully in the future.
