From Iceland — The Unemployed Can Work Out

The Unemployed Can Work Out

A contract between the town of Seltjarnarnes and World Class Gym will give the unemployed free access to the facilities.
The contract applies specifically to residents of the Seltjarnarnes who’ve lost their jobs. In addition, the town will be offering its unemployed free library cards and free access to the municipal pool.
The service is available three months at a time. Those interested are asked to visit www.seltjarnarnes.is for more information.
Hafnarfjörður recently enacted a similar measure, giving their unemployed free swimming pool memberships. About 12,000 of Iceland’s 18,000 unemployed live in the capital area.
