The second edition of the Tectonics Festival curated by Ilan Volkov starts today at Harpa.
The Tectonics Festival is presented by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and it highlights the talents of pioneering composers and performers of orchestral pieces, chamber music, experimental and electronic music. The event runs until April 20 and will fill the various halls and foyers of Harpa with performances, installations, and collaborative experiments.
The festival comprises over two dozen acts from Iceland and abroad. Some notable performances during the festival include several dozen flautists playing a remarkable work by Henry Brant, two new major compositions by Christian Wolff, a newly commissioned piece by Hildur Guðnadóttir, and a large scale performance of a piece by Pauline Oliveros. Local artists include Skúli Sverisson, Kjartan Sveinsson and the S.L.Á.T.U.R. collective.
Additionally, the festival will hold a two-day event in Glasgow on May 11-12, presented by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
