Six weeks after the formal request has made, the State Prosecutor is now asking for more documentation on a leaked memo about a Nigerian asylum seeker.

DV reports that the State Prosecutor, has received some information from the Ministry of the Interior on the case of Tony Omos, a Nigerian asylum seeker about whom a memo leaked to select members of the press last November. The memo contained allegations about him and the expecting mother of his child, Evelyn Glory Joseph, which later proved untrue.

The State Prosecutor released a statement today, saying the office needed “more documentation and information from within the Ministry of the Interior before a final decision will be taken on whether the matter will be referred to the police.”

Seven charges were filed against the minister earlier this month by lawyers representing Tony and Evelyn, including breach of confidentiality, slander, and abuse of public office. The State Prosecutor first requested information from the ministry on December 10 of last year.
