From Iceland — Skap Ofsi Goes Video

Skap Ofsi Goes Video

Published December 17, 2009

Skap Ofsi, the moniker of the person that has been splashing the homes of Iceland’s wealthy with red paint, sent a YouTube video to the media.
The video itself, seen here, appears to be a camera pointed at a computer screen as a slideshow presentation shows photos of Skap Ofsi’s work, and people cleaning it up. At the time of this writing, the video already had over 1,700 views. The comments have been overwhelmingly positive and supportive. In e-mails to members of the press, the video link bears the message, “Will it be a red Christmas this year?,” a play on words refering to both the red paint s/he uses, and the term “red Christmas,” which in Iceland means a Christmas without snow.
Skap Ofsi began their campaign last summer. The homes targeted belong to wealthy Icelanders that the group deems to have been responsible for bankrupting the country without facing any retribution for their actions. An exclusive interview with the person conducted by Grapevine can be read here.
