Sigur Rós Completing New Album

Published May 28, 2009

According to sources close to the band, Sigur Rós is making a new album.
The different band mates have been working on side projects as well. Singer Jón Þór Birgisson has been working on his own album, as well as the album of his partner, Alex Somers, entitled Riceboy Sleeps. Keyboardist Kjartan Sveinssson has also been working hard, on a soundtrack for a film by Irish director Neil Jordan.
There had been concerns, however, that their latest album, June 2008’s Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust, was going to be their last. However, drummer Orri Páli Dýrasón confirmed in an interview with Morgunblaðið that the band is working on a new album. In addition, he says the album is almost finished, adding that fans can expect numerous changes made to the Sigur Rós sound.
