From Iceland — Shock Over Stolen Asparagus

Shock Over Stolen Asparagus

Published August 28, 2013

The owner of a raw food restaurant was shocked and dismayed to discover that her parents vegetable garden had been raided during the night.
DV reports that Sólveig Eiríksdóttir, who owns the restaurant Gló, discovered on Tuesday morning that the garden of her parents, who live just outside of Reykjavík, had been ransacked. The unknown thieves made off with asparagus, collard greens, and other assorted vegetables.
“We are all in shock,” Sólveig told reporters. “It feels like someone broke into our home.”
Sólveig’s parents, Hildur Karlsdóttir and Eiríkur Haraldsson, are in their eighties, and have gardened all their lives. The vegetables that were stolen were enough to last the couple a year.
Sólveig asks that anyone who might have any information about the garden theft be in touch with her. The Grapevine recommends also contacting the police.
