From Iceland — Protest: Big Noise, Small Crowd - VIDEO

Protest: Big Noise, Small Crowd – VIDEO

Published January 17, 2011

Today saw Iceland’s Parliament reconvene after a lengthy Christmas break. To mark the occasion, a group referring to itself as Tunnurnar (“The Drums”) has been urging Icelanders to show up for some good old-fashioned protest-action outside of Alþingi.
“We do not accept that the interests of the financial system are being put ahead of the nation’s homes, economy and welfare system,” the group exclaims in a press release.
The Grapevine’s field research at the protest revealed a group of just over twenty protestors making a whole lot of noise by banging on some conveniently located oil drums that someone apparently brought over for the purpose. We shot the following video on our substandard camera, so you may experience Icelandic Protest Fun!

Note that at the time of writing, there are plenty of drums available. So if you feel like protesting anything, now’s your chance.
