From Iceland — Protest Lack Of Disabled Access

Protest Lack Of Disabled Access

Published September 12, 2013

A group of Danish exchange students are trying to raise awareness of the lack of access for disabled people in Reykjavík.
The lack of wheelchair-friendly entrances and exits in Reykjavík is a known issue that has plagued the city for years. The wheelchair-bound have often reported their frustrations (probably not helped by some of the creative parking in the capital area).
Vísir now reports that a group of Danish students have taken it upon themselves to raise awareness of the issue.
The exchange students, who attend Borgarholtsskóli, found the main shopping street of Laugavegur to be especially lacking in wheelchair access. When compared to other Nordic countries, they say, Iceland is lagging far behind.
