From Iceland — Peace Tower to Be Turned On Tonight

Peace Tower to Be Turned On Tonight

Published February 18, 2009

Yoko One’s Peace Tower, first brough to Iceland in the fall of 2007, will be switched on at sundown this evening, and will remain lit until the morning. The turning on of the tower is done to commemorate Ono’s 76th birthday, which is also today. According to Morgunblaðið, she had wanted to spend her birthday here, but unforeseen circumstances have prevented Ono from travelling.
The tower will be turned on at 20:00. Those wishing to take the ferry over to the island of Víðey, where the tower stands, should contact whale-watching company Elding for more information.
