From Iceland — Pascal Pinon To Start Tour Of Japan

Pascal Pinon To Start Tour Of Japan

Published March 16, 2012

Icelandic indie band Pascal Pinon will soon begin a tour in Japan, but not before holding a farewell concert on March 23.
According to a press release from the band, the band will begin its Japan tour on March 28, visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, Kanzawa and other places. The tour itself was made a reality in part because of Sumire Taya, who owns a record store and label in Japan, and has been selling Pascal Pinon’s music there. Sales have apparently been brisk, as Taya felt the band would benefit from a tour of the country.
Before leaving, though, the band will hold a concert at Neskirkja at 20:00 on March 23. Also performing at this show will be the band Útidúr, musician Auður Edda and the chorus Söngsveitin Fílharmónía. An EP will be for sale at the location, featuring three new songs within hand-made sleeves. All proceeds will go towards helping pay for the band’s Japan tour.
In an interview with the Grapevine, Pascal Pinon described their music as “lo-fi acoustic indie pop that we usually rehearse in our bedroom”, and downplayed their relatively young age, saying, “We’re just being sincere by playing music we like, and I think it has nothing to do with our age whatsoever.”
