Nose Thievery Strikes Again

Once again, the giant snowman built in Akureyri town square has been robbed of its nose. The town is appealing to the general public to help retrieve it.

The sheer amount of snow Akureyri receives, as well as their being a traffic circle in the town centre where the ploughed snow is piled, has led to the yearly creation of a snowman in the town centre. This year, he even has a name - Frosti - but sadly no longer has a nose.

Vísir reports that Frosti has had his nose stolen twice in the same week - both the original and the replacement are missing. The snowman creators told reporters that they are taking a no-questions-asked policy about the nose; they simply want it, or them, back.

Those who have the nose or noses, or know where it or they might be, are asked to return the nose(s) to the steps of Akureyri town hall.

This is not the first time nose thievery has struck Akureyri. Last year, a previous incarnation of Frosti also had its nose stolen. Fortunately, the nose thief experienced a crisis of consciousness and returned the nose to its rightful owner, apologising, and explaining that his actions were meant to be a joke.
