From Iceland — Nordic PMs to Meet in Iceland

Nordic PMs to Meet in Iceland

Published February 26, 2009

The Prime Ministers of the Nordic countries will be meeting in Iceland
today and tomorrow for a globalization conference at the Blue Lagoon.
Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir will be meeting with her colleagues, as well as numerous members of the international press, and told Morgunblaðið that she sees this as a good opportunity to more accurately explain Iceland’s true economic situation.
The purpose of the meeting, according to an issued statement, is to create a lively discussion on some of the biggest challenges facing globalization today. The central point of the discussion will be, not surprisingly, the global economic crisis, as well as its effect on climate change and innovation.
The main speaker for the event will be Harvard economics professor Kenneth S. Rogoff, who will discuss the global economic crisis and financial predictions for the coming years.
