From Iceland — Nature Conservation Bill Heading to Parliament

Nature Conservation Bill Heading to Parliament

Published February 18, 2013

The Iceland Nature Conservation Association has submitted a draft bill to Alþingi in an effort to strengthen conservation efforts in the country.
Included in the bill are provisions for increased funding to cover the costs of caring for protected natural sites, as well as increased efforts made toward educating the public on the importance of conservation and the natural environment, RÚV reports. The bill would further allow the government to intervene when they feel that laws and regulations pertaining to nature are being violated.
