Published February 19, 2013

The sale of bus tickets through Strætó’s website has increased by 368% from 2009 through 2012, mbl.is is reporting.
In 2009 the public transport company sold 75 million ISK worth of tickets online. In 2012 that figure had nearly doubled to 142 million ISK, and continued to increase in 2011 and 2012, with the company selling 221 million ISK and 276 million ISK, respectively, worth of bus tickets through their website in those years.
Those interested in purchasing their bus tickets online and having them mailed to their home can do so on bus.is. Sheets of 9 tickets are also available directly from the driver (exact cash only, as is the case for all on-bus payments) for 3,000 ISK, netting you a whopping 16 ISK in savings per ticket.
