More Icelanders Travel Domestically

Published February 16, 2010

According to a new survey conducted by MMR for the Icelandic Tourist Board, more Icelanders travel within Iceland than abroad.
90% said they had traveled within the country last year, while only 40% said they traveled both within Iceland and abroad, and 4% said they only traveled abroad. 8% did not travel at all.
67% percent traveled within the country three or more times, and 74% stayed seven nights or longer. The summer months were by far the busiest time of year for traveling.
According to MMR, the results show the highest number of Icelanders traveling domestically than any other previous poll taken on the subject.
