Million Krónur For Best Bird Photo

Published May 18, 2012

A new photography contest is underway which will award 1 million ISK for the best bird photo of the summer.
The contest, Bird For A Million, invites people from all over the world to participate. The only conditions are that participants must register and take their photos in the Trollaskagi peninsula, North Iceland, or on the islands of Hrisey, Grimsey, Málmey or Drangey between May 14 and August 31. There is a one-time registration fee of 1,000 ISK, and you can submit up to three photos. Other submission guidelines can be found here.
In addition to the 1,000,000 ISK grand prize, there are also a number of runner-up prizes, such as hotel stays, camera equipment and books on Icelandic bird life.
Iceland is well-known to birdwatchers for the variety of birdlife here, but the area for photography chosen by the contest organisers is particularly rich in species such as puffins, terns, oyster catchers, loons and more.
