Man Sentenced For Stealing Bible And Blood Pressure Meter From Convent

Two men were sentenced to serve jail time for a number of thefts, including stealing a sphygmomanometer, Bible, and other religious items from a car parked outside the Carmelite Convent in Hafnarfjörður.
Vísir reports that the two men, aged 29 and 30, were found guilty of a number of offences related to weapons charges and theft, including having illegally procured about 150,000 ISK for an ATM. Both men have a long history of encounters with the police.
The younger man was also convicted of breaking into and stealing from two cars, one of which was parked outside the Carmelite Convent in Hafnarfjörður. Among the items he stole from the latter car was a laptop, a gilded chest, icons, rosaries, a silver cross, a Bible, an iPod, chocolate, cheese and a sphygmomanometer, which measures blood pressure.
The younger of the two was sentenced to seven months in prison, while the older received two months.
