Man Requests Full Citizenship Based On Past Life In Iceland

Published December 13, 2011

A man living in Italy, who believes he lived in Iceland in a previous life, has written a letter to the president, requesting an Icelandic passport, citizenship, and free transportation to the Westfjords.
The man in question is Marco Raimondi, DV reports. In his letter to the president, he attached a song called Mother Iceland, which he hopes people in Iceland will listen to. Readers can listen to the song at the bottom of the linked article, by clicking the link marked “Viðhengi”.
Marco expresses a great deal of love for Iceland in his letter, saying that due to chronic illness, he cannot travel alone but does have a caregiver. He makes three requests of the president. They are as follows:

1. In light of how much I love Iceland, I want to first ask you for Icelandic citizenship and an Icelandic passport.
2. Would you then be so kind as to give me a free trip to Iceland and the Westfjords, which to me is very special? I would like to go to Kaldalón. The fjord calls to me and I want to go there before my final days.
3. Would you be so kind as to give me and my caregiver a trip to Iceland each year?

Marco concludes by saying that should the president fulfill his requests, he would be ecstatic. “I ask of you, with all my heart, that you help me make my dreams come true,” he writes.
