Living In Tent Downtown To Win Round-World Trip

A young Icelandic woman has been living in a tent on Skólavörðustígur in the hopes of winning a trip around the world.
When the Icelandic tourist company Kilroy Iceland announced that the first person to show up when they open on September 1 will win a trip around the world, Brynja Sóley Plaggenborg took the matter seriously. DV reports that she pitched a tent in front of the establishment, on Skólavörðustígur, last Tuesday and has been camping out there ever since.
“I graduated secondary school last spring, and wanted to do something other than just go to school,” Brynja explained, “so I decided to go on a trip around the world.” She said she has so far been met with a good reception from passers-by, with most people being polite to her. In fact, many people who have met her have expressed concern for her position in life, believing she had been reduced to living in a tent on a street.
The grand opening of Kilroy Iceland will actually be granting prizes to the first ten people who arrive. The first person gets a trip around the world, which is valued at about 400,000 ISK.
