From Iceland — Library Offering To Teach The News

Library Offering To Teach The News

Published April 6, 2011

The Reykjavík city library is offering to help people – whether they speak Icelandic or not – to get to know the printed media of this country.
The event, called “Lesum blöðin saman” (Let’s read the papers together), will be held tomorrow at the Reykjavík city library from 17:30 to 20:30. The library itself is on Tryggvagata 15, but the event will be held on the fifth floor.
The event promises to introduce attendees to Iceland’s newspapers, under the guidance of a librarian. This includes, according to the organisers, an introduction to different newspapers and news websites, searching for news, understanding the language used in the news, and – perhaps most importantly – why a particular story is in the news.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring articles or current event topics that they would like to understand better.
For more information, or to indicate your attendance, visit the Facebook page of the event.
