From Iceland — Leslie Losing Strength

Leslie Losing Strength

Published September 12, 2012

Tropical storm Leslie has not reached hurricane strength, and is expected to reach Iceland tomorrow morning.
As reported, the storm, which originated in the Caribbean, has been arching its way in a northeasterly direction over the past several days. The US National Hurricane Center estimated that over the open ocean, Leslie could gain hurricane strength.
It now seems as though Leslie has not reached hurricane status. Just a few hours ago, it passed the southern tip of Greenland, and is continuing its path towards Iceland. It should arrive here around 8:00 tomorrow morning.
As it stands, it is still impossible to predict just how the storm will affect weather conditions in Iceland. The USNHC estimates that Leslie should still be at the level of a tropical storm, a weather condition characterized by winds between 63 and 117 KPH (39 – 73 MPH). However, it could also continue losing strength, resulting in nothing more than a bad stormy day.
