From Iceland — Kjurr

Kjurr

Kjurr is a trio.
Their story begins in Brussels in early 2011 when friends Klemens Hannigan (guitar & voice) & Einar Hrafn Stefánsson (bass & backing voice) decided to start a project together they called ‘Far From Sea.’
When Einar got an opportunity to work at a recording studio in Iceland, the duo decided to move the project there and expand it to a full band.
Drummer Sólrún Mjöll Kjartansdóttir was introduced to Klemens through his orthodontist, supposedly through a very muffled conversation, in the autumn of 2012 and thus Kjurr was born!
Coming out of their rehearsal space in March with heaps of post-winter material, things quickly took off for the young tripod and through sweaty live shows and word-of-mouth they have been able to build up a loyal cult-following in the Icelandic music scene.
They are currently working on an EP due for an August release and are touring central Europe in September.
