A former Social Democrat politician has some choice words about the “kid’s yogurt” being sold in Icelandic stores.
Vísir reports that Teitur Atlason – at one time a parliamentary candidate for the Social Democrats and now one of Iceland’s best-known bloggers – is less than pleased with the new Christmas yogurt from MS Iceland Dairies currently being sold in stores.
“Why do people buy this for their kids and who produces this crap to sell to children?,” he writes, adding that he finds it unbelievable that Icelandic children are considered amongst the fattest in the world, while producers in this country make the most unhealthy food imaginable.
Teitur’s issue is not just with the Christmas yogurt, though. “I’m also talking about the strawberry yogurt, and much more. It is immoral to sell this stuff as food, and for children no less. It is just candy.”
While he encourages people to boycott these high-sugar dairy products and speak up about them, he says he has nothing against MS Iceland Dairies as a company.
“There are a lot of fine products that they make,” Teitur writes. “A company like this, which people do a lot of business with, must show some responsibility to society.”
